I met Symara via the Next Model Search, and the first thing that you'll notice about her is her smile.




I just love her skin tone, it just like buttah and her features were made for high fashion modelling. Her personality though has brought her success even in America and I' predicting she'll be a supermodel in no time.





YEOH: i know were good friends and all, but for the readers of my blog can you tell us something about yourself?


SYMARA: Me, I'm a smiling dancing chocolate eating bubble of fun.

Y: did you always wanna be a model?

S: I kind of fell in to modeling. But yes, its one of those professions that not anybody can just go in to.

Y: you have modeled in london, los angeles and hannover, which city did you like most and why?

S: LA, crazy city, but its great for modeling, that plus the sun and beaches.

Y: can you name some of your favorite models?

S: Sessilee Lopez, Grace Jones, Omahyra Mota, jordun dunn :)

Y: you're still pretty new to the business, what are the things you wanna achieve as a model?

S: I have not modeled in SA, ASIA yet, so those two parts of the world. I would like to work in those places as a model.

Y: what advice can you give any aspiring models?

S: modeling us a very hard industry, and takes confidence as well as being or becoming a good model.

Confidence, backbone, a willingness to achieve any and everything, you will have to work hard if you want to become a serious professional model.

This would be a first of a series of interviews I've done with models from around the globe, just to give us all a taste of how modelling is on other countries and fashion capitals. I hope it helps inspire asipring models to dream, and have the courage to actually pursue it as their passion.



ERLANDO is one of those models that you only need a head shot to tell you how good he is.

I just stumbled upon him after he left a tag in my model mayhem, and when i checked his portfolio i was quite impressed with his work. He has had billboards and editorials in his native country, but still seems oblivious to his success. He's a pretty nice guy -which might explain the big following he has on facebook-, i usually chat with him and he seems very open and friendly.

I mustered up the courage to ask him if i can feature him in my blog, and he agreed to an interview. It was great to ask another model from another asian country about the business and how we actually share the same ethics and aspirations.




YEOH: i've seen your portfolio and you seem like a superstar in indonesia. can you tell me recent jobs or projects that you have done?

ERLANDHO:hahaha...naaah,am not that star,am just doing modelling that i love so much and try giving my best in ths industry,
well,just chosen as a brand image of local cigarettes Bentoel tali jagad.every male model dreams to be one of them i guess,thx God i got it.
now i'm preparing for my movie in Bangkok next september

Y: how long have you been modelling and how did you start in the business?

E: i've been modelling since 2005,a photographer discovered me and convinced me tht i can be a model.was lack of confidence,cuz didn't hv any experience before,now i can do how 2 pose...lol

Y: what do you like most about being a model?

E: wht i like the most 2 be a model is always seeing new people,new places and new experiences

Y: can you tell me something about your work ethic?

E: always friendly,punctual,never complain,and always give ur best in every job

Y:can you describe to us what the modelling and fashion industry is like in jakarta?

E: it has been growing up than the past years,jakarta trying 2 be one of fashion city in asia,we have fashion week here and indonesia FTV.all international fashion brand already exist here
and for models,the competion is going tighter,cuz so many models here,local and foreign models

Y: what advice can you tell to an aspiring model?

E:be ur self,be bold and different,punctual and keep in shape ;)

HOW BEAUTY SHOTS SHOULD LOOK LIK.E

i was really really glad this week that these two sets came upon me via facebook. they are how beauty shots are supposed to be in my opinion, just pure and simple with very little manipulation.

the photographers are new and really young, so i wanted to re post their work and give credit where credit is due and post photos that were worth reposting just because they looked amazing, and were ones models would be proud to put in their book.

5. Don't let yourself or face be saturated in online accounts.

3. You have to take care of yourself, and chose the projects that you take, even your photo shoots. the elite agencies won't give you attention if you're not careful.

2. You have to stand out in a line up. Make sure people know you're more experience and that you're different than the others The way you talk, walk and stand will speak for you.

1. If you love doing it, there's no reason to stop.
