i was browsing through Philippine's Next Top Model videos in youtube, and i felt some sense of dread and disgust with some of the comments there. it was being compared to ANTM, and i just felt it was unfair. there's dozens of other versions of the series around the world. Australia and Germany's version have been well accepted by it's public, while us on the other hand would call the series and participants crude names. i seriously feel that the series could have been better, but on hindsight it did produce some of our country's top model at the moment.
what we lack i guess is PRIDE in our own business, in everything filipino for that matter. there's a certain stigma in our society that says everything that is made here is "baduy" or second rate to anything made somewhere else.
let's take for example our models. we pay so much attention to others who work the runways of milan, paris and new york, but i've seen blogs who blatantly downright degrade our own and dismiss them as second rate to the Brazilians with whom they work with. that is sad. we should try to uplift our own blood, and not look down upon it.
i think we should try to complain less, and just do our job in doing what we can to be responsible citizens in our country.
we do not lack creativity.
what we lack is a sense of pride and support for our fellow countrymen and their craft.
